Nagaland University (NU) Lumami on May 27 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, envisaging administrative and faculty support, internship and short-term training programmes, and guidance in infrastructure development.
A press release by Nagaland University Lumami PRO informed that the MoU was signed by NU vice chancellor, Professor Jagadish K. Patnaik and IIT Guwahati director, Professor Devendra Jalihal, at IIT Guwahati, in the presence of faculty and officers from both the institutions.
PRO said the MoU was noteworthy in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which places emphasis on fostering partnerships and improving the quality of higher education in India, signifying steps towards promoting academic exchange, research collaboration, and sharing of resources between the two institutions.
Through such partnerships, PRO said NEP 2020 aims to enhance academic quality, promote interdisciplinary research, and facilitate the holistic development of students.
PRO said initiatives like the Memorandum of Understanding reflect the NEP’s vision of creating a robust and integrated educational ecosystem that encourages innovation, diversity, and excellence. It said such collaborations between universities and premier institutes play a crucial role in realising the goals set forth by the NEP 2020 and advancing the educational landscape in India.
