In an collaborative joint initiative, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), in collaboration with the National Health Mission (NHM) Nagaland and USAID-PRERANA project, conducted an integrated training session on August 21 and 22, focused on enhancing the skills and knowledge of NSACS staff from the “CTY BARN” and “Health on Bike” programs in Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) services.
A press release from NHM informed that the training, aimed at equipping staff to better support these crucial services available at primary health facilities under the National Health Mission, inaugurated by Mission Director of NHM Dr. Akuo Sorhie and Project Director of NSACS Dr. Ahu Sekhose.
The collaborative effort was part of a broader initiative to integrate family planning commodities and SRH information and services into the newly launched “CTY BARN” program in four districts and the “Health on Bike” initiative across eight districts in Nagaland. By expanding the reach of these services, the program aims to ensure greater accessibility and improved healthcare delivery across the state.
PRERANA, a USAID-funded five-year initiative running until December 2028, has been dedicated to strengthening SRH services across all eight northeastern states of India. The project supports local governments, private sectors, and civil society in developing innovative, evidence-based solutions for Family Planning and Reproductive Health, with a particular focus on marginalized populations, including those living with HIV and AIDS.
The initiative seeks to foster integrated, cross-sectoral solutions that address a range of health issues, including HIV, mental health, and gender-based violence. Dr. Bernice, Joint Director of Targeted Interventions at NSACS, along with representatives from USAID India and PRERANA, and other government officials attended the programme.
