National De-Worming Day launched in Mon, Kohima

In line with the initiative of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the national de-worming day has been launched in Mon and Kohima on August 23.


The focus of national de-worming day was to deworm all the children between the age of 1- 19 through platforms of schools and Anganwadi Centres. During the launching programme, MO RBSK Dr. Tsemtseh Konyak, discussed in minute details on how worms are formed, their causes, symptoms, how to prevent them, and the effects of medications and dosages. He also launched the program by giving deworming tablets to five students. The programme was chaired by GNM, RBSK Chaoya, invocation by teacher GPS-B Wanle and vote of thanks by SHP Co-ordinator Mewang Konyak.


KOHIMA: In Kohima, the progamme was organized by office of Chief Medical, Kohima, under the aegis of National Health Mission (NHM), held National De-Worming Day (NDD) programme at TM Government Higher Secondary School (TMGHSS) Kohima.


A press release by NHM informed that at the launching programme, Dr. Khrievilhou said that children suffer from several harmful health issues because of worm infection such as Anemia, nutritional impairment, loss of appetite, weakness and anxiety, stomach ache, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea and blood in stool.


He said that on NDD, de-worming tablets would be given free of cost at schools and Anganwadi centers, targeting children of 1-19 years of age, as children should be de-wormed, even though some children do not fall sick.


Dr. Khrievilhou also informed the benefits of de-worming children. MO (RBSK) Dr. Nikdirenla Lusang, also dwelled on the importance of NDD to the students and also demonstrated six steps hand washing at school premises.
