East Dimapur Town Council adopts several resolutions

East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) at its first public coordination meeting held on August 23 at Council Hall, Purana Bazar, has adopted several resolutions for the betterment of the area.

According to EDTC, sanitation was one of the main focus and during the recent drainage clearance work, they have discovered that the major problem for clogging was due to illegal disposal of plastic and bottles.

In this regard, EDTC appealed to all the public under all wards to ensure that every individual acts with responsibility. It was decided to impose a sanitation fee of Rs. 100 for every household for the development of the entire East Dimapur Town.

The council has also decided to carry out expansion of the road for which some private lands/walls may be taken down /schools may also be shifted for bigger/wider roads and as such it sought cooperation of everyone. The council will also be carrying out renovation/preservation/parks/playground etc for which lakes under its jurisdiction will be used.
In order to encourage and keep their respective wards clean, the cleanest ward will be awarded every six months.

Further, EDTC resolved that as long as the NLPT act “is not changed/altered or removed”, no alcohol will be allowed to sell under its jurisdiction and defaulters will be imprisoned as per the law. The council has also prohibited planting of trees and plants on public roads.

Meanwhile, the EDTC has sought cooperation from all church leaders, GBs, council members and all concerned citizens to create a peaceful and conducive environment.
