Veteran journalist of Nagaland, Theyiezielie (Jack) Chakhesang (born 13/03/1953) passed away after a prolonged ailment at Dimapur on August 27. According to information late Jack Chakhesang’s body was taken to Pfutseromi village on August 28 for burial.
NP: Editor and staff Nagaland Post have expressed sorrow at the passing away of Jack Chakhesang who was a prolific fiction writer and was also worked in several news weeklies in Nagaland since the mid-80s. Late Jack Chakhesang also worked with Nagaland Post, The Naga Banner and Eastern Mirror before retiring from the profession.
In his passing away, NP said that the fourth estate in Nagaland have lost a brilliant and hard working writer-cum-journalist and whose absence will be felt for a long time. In this hour of grief, the

Dimapur Press Club (DPC) and Kohima Press Club (KPC) have also mourned the passing away of senior journalist and author Jack T. Chakhesang on August 27 in Dimapur.
Dimapur Press Club said that Jack was former editor of “The Naga Banner” and was associated with Eastern Mirror and Northeast Herald, among other publications.
DPC said that his contributions to the field of journalism in Nagaland were significant and will be long remembered. The club extended heartfelt condolences to the family and friends during this difficult time and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
KPC: The members of Kohima Press Club (KPC) expressed pain over the sudden demise of senior journalist and author, Jack T. Chakhesang.
KPC said that late Jack was a good friend of the Club and his passing has left a huge hole in their lives.
Kohima Press Club recalled that late Jack was an officer in the Indian Army prior to joining journalism and also served as the former editor of “The Naga Banner”.
“As we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, we also celebrate his life and the countless ways in which he has touched the lives of many people,” Kohima Press Club said.
The club extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family and all those whose lives were enriched by his presence. KPC also prayed that his soul rest in peace and hoped the memories of his life bring comfort to all who grieve this loss.
