Nagaland: Royim-led NNC (PB) withdraws from NNPA, joins NNPGs

Naga National Council Parent Body (NNC-PB), under the leadership of president Z Royim, announced on Friday its decision to withdraw from the Naga National Political Alliance (NNPA). The group emphasized that as a stakeholder and signatory of the ‘Agreed Position,’ it has decided to join the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs).

Meanwhile, in a joint statement, NNC (PB) president Z Royim, ‘lt. gen.’ Throngso, adviser to collective leadership Akiuba, UT-I chairman Akheho Achumi, and home kilonser Adi Tzudir acknowledged the binding commitment for all signatories of the Agreed Position.

They reaffirmed that the NNC (PB), as a signatory of the agreement, was committed to upholding and supporting the terms of the agreement until its full implementation.

Despite rumours suggesting otherwise, they clarified that the NNC (PB) remained steadfast in its dedication to safeguarding and adhering to the agreement. They asserted that the organisation stood unwavering in protection of the Agreed Position, and that it was a key stakeholder and would remain so, always.

Admitting that the NNC (PB) might have internal differences, they however assured that this should not be a cause for concern as these were part of the organisation’s internal affairs.

They declared that disregarding the Agreed Position by NNC (PB) was not a possibility, and did not undermine the integrity of the Working Committee.

The signatories stated that they were issuing the statement to dispel any misinformation and prevent the spread of rumours regarding NNC (PB)’s role as one of the signatories under the parent body of the NNPGs in the Agreed Position signed on November 17, 2017 between the Central government and WC, NNPGs.

They said their clarification aimed to address any confusion in the public domain and ensure accurate understanding of the agreement.
