Nagaland: SHS advocacy campaign at Niuland

As part of the ongoing nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva 2024” initiative, PHED Rural Division Dimapur conducted an advocacy campaign under the theme “Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata,” at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Niuland, Niuland district on September 23.

A press release from PHED Rural Division Dimapur informed, students participated in a Swachhata Pledge, administered by GHSS Vice Principal, Nikali Sumi. The pledge, falling under the key pillar “Swachhata Ki Bhagidaari,” emphasized the role of individual responsibility in maintaining cleanliness at home, in the workplace, and in public spaces. The initiative aims to promote behavioral changes among the students, serving as a reminder of the personal duty to keep the country clean.

District Coordinator of DWSM, PHED Dimapur Division, Imojungla Longkumer, delivered a talk on “Swachhata” during the campaign and also highlighted the significance of shifting mindsets to achieve sustainable and visible transformations in society.

To further promote the anti-littering message, a litter bin was donated to the school, accompanied by a poster with the slogan “Together we can stop litter.” The campaign was a zero-waste, single-use-plastic (SUP) free event, advocating the use of eco-friendly alternatives to plastic and encouraging citizens to adopt more sustainable practices.
The event was a vital step in encouraging community participation in creating a cleaner, more sustainable environment.
