Thonoknyu Aspirational Block has achieved 100% in five indicators under NITI Aayog’s flagship campaign, Sampoornata Abhiyan, which ran from July 4 to September 30, 2024.
According to Prarthana Pawale, ABF ,Thonoknyu NITI Aayog, Thonoknyu Block is also the only block in Nagaland to achieve 100% screening of the targeted population.
In addition, the block also achieved 100% in the Measurement Efficiency of Children (0-6 years) enrolled at Anganwadi Centres for the month of September 2024.
Thonoknyu Block has also been ranked 465 out of 471 ranked Aspirational Blocks, according to the March 2024 rankings released by NITI Aayog.
As one of the lowest-ranking blocks across all 500 Aspirational Blocks, Thonoknyu’s position has highlighted significant structural development challenges.
The block has only 11 kilometers of blacktopped roads with no banking facilities, non-operational district postal code, non -operational internet in most of the villages with 19 out of 46 Anganwadi centers operating in temporary structures and 27 of them having no structures with just one Medical Officer serving the entire area.
Despite of those structural limitations, Prarthana credited the district administration of Noklak for their commitment in making incremental progress. Prarthana said that their determination to address the challenges step by step has played a key role in achieving the saturation of key indicators under NITI Aayog’s framework.
The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with 100% saturation included: percentage of ANC (Antenatal Care) registrations within the first trimester, percentage of individuals screened for hypertension, percentage of individuals screened for diabetes, percentage of pregnant women regularly receiving supplementary nutrition under the ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) program and percentage of Soil Health Cards generated against the soil sample collection target. Despite this achievement, the on-ground challenges in Thonoknyu Block have been significant.
