Advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan emphasised the importance of peace and unity within the community and called upon the members of Lakhuti village to be agents of peace and promoters of unity beyond the community.
He was speaking at the meeting for the welfare and development of Lakhuti village held in coordination with Wokha Town Lakhuti Ekhung (WTLE) and Village Council of Lakhuti on October 26, at Lotha Hoho Ki, Wokha. Yanthan, highlighted the blessings bestowed upon every member of Lakhuti village and encouraged them to remain humble and grateful to God for His blessings.
He also emphasized the historical significance of Lakhuti village, noting its social and political contributions, including strengthening the Naga political struggle. He called on the congregation to give due importance and respect to their village and to foster a sense of responsibility and belonging.
He urged upon them to be careful and presentable in their actions and approaches in every walk of life, setting examples and being trendsetters for others to inculcate good values.
Speaking on sustainable development, Yanthan encouraged the villagers to avail government programs and schemes, focusing on cultivation and becoming producers rather than just consumers. He advised against consuming the seeds of any projects and schemes, urging them to multiply through the schemes. He noted that the Naga community often runs for subsidies and neglects implementing projects.
Addressing youth unemployment, Yanthan urged students to not sit idle after completing their education but to pursue skill training to become employable or entrepreneurs. He reminded the villagers to use available government machinery judiciously with self-governance, including water supply through JJM.
Yanthan asked the congregation to continue praying for his leadership representing the village, while assuring them of his commitment to the welfare and social progress of the village.
According to WTLE information secretary, the meeting saw participation from Dimapur Lakhuti Ekhung, Chumukedima Lakhuti Ekhung, Kohima Lakhuti Ekhung, Lakhuti Officer Forum, Lakhuti Students’ Union, Bhandari Lakhuti Ekhung, Baghty Lakhuti Ekhung, along with senior members from the village.
During the event, Dr. Zuben Kikon, Chief Medical Officer Wokha, Mhonthung Yanthan, chairman of the Village Council Lakhuti, and members from Dimapur Lakhuti, Kohima Lakhuti, Lakhuti Officers Forum, and Lakhuti Students’ Union shared short speeches. A series of agendas were deliberated, including education, roads, electricity, water, and various social developments in the village.
The meeting was chaired by Zubemo Lotha, chairman of Wokha Town Lakhuti Ekhung (WTLE), with N. Chophathung Kikon, Assistant Catechist at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Wokha, delivering the invocation. T. John Yanthan, advisor WTLE, delivered the vote of thanks, while the benediction was proposed by Steward of Wokha Town Baptist Church, Nyimathun Ngullie.
