Nagaland: TR Zeliang begins inspection of NH projects

State deputy chief minister TR Zeliang, who is also minister in-charge of National Highway, on Monday began inspection of highway projects in five districts—Tuensang, Kiphire, Shamator, Mokokchung and Phek—as part of his four-day tour.

Dy CM’s office through its media cell informed that Zeliang would also inspect and survey all the newly proposed national highway projects during the tour.

On Monday, he inspected NH-702A and NH-202k and held meeting with the Thuvopisumi villagers. He appealed to the villagers not to obstruct the NH road projects, but cooperate with the government and contractors for timely completion of the project.

Besides, Zeliang also met NHIDCL officials at Meluri and urged them to complete the ongoing NH-202 K project within the stipulated time.

Interacting with the people at various locations, the deputy chief minister said that about 15 NH projects in the state had been stalled and remained uncompleted due to land owner problem.

He, therefore, urged the landowners not to claim land compensation according to their rate, but accept the rate fix by the government for smooth implementation of the projects.
Zeliang also said bad roads in Nagaland was due to non-availability of fund for timely maintenance.

He, however, expressed confidence that Nagaland would be well connected in a decade or two. He said that Nagaland would be well connected from east to west and north to south by 2040.

Zeliang is scheduled to visit Kiphire, Shamator, Longkhim Chare on Tuesday and hold meeting with various tribal bodies and villagers.
