4 Nagas honoured with DGAR commendation card

Four persons from Nagaland, who have significantly impacted society, fostered peace, and strengthened the bond between the public and the military, were honoured by Assam Rifles at the ceremony held at Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) Kohima on Monday.


The award—DGAR commendation card—was handed by Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) to K N Sekhose, Imna Yaden, Kenei Ritse and Neiketuno Sechu.


According to a statement issued by Assam Rifles, the Commendation Card is a symbol of excellence, awarded to individuals who have demonstrated remarkable service, dedication, and commitment in their respective fields, resonating with the ethos and values upheld by the Assam Rifles.


By honouring their achievements, the award serves as an inspiration for others to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to society.


Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera lauded the awardees for their unwavering dedication and selfless service. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between civil society and security forces in fostering peace, development, and progress in the region.


He further reiterated Assam Rifles’ commitment to working closely with communities to build a brighter future. Neingunyu Sekhose, a respected leader from Kohima, was honored for his efforts as the former president of the Angami Public Organisation and the Northern Angami Public Organisation. His work has played a key role in promoting peace and fostering collaboration between the Assam Rifles and the community.


Imna Yaden, a well-known artist in the region, was recognized for his contributions to music and culture. His album Vande Mataram, released on the eve of India’s 78th Independence Day, and the theme song he composed for the Captain Kenguruse MVC Memorial Football Tournament highlight his dedication to patriotism and regional identity.


Kenei Ritse, crowned Miss Northeast 2023, has been a vocal advocate for mental health awareness, drug abuse prevention, and youth empowerment. Similarly, Neiketuno Sechü, Miss Nagaland 2023 and a representative at Miss India Grand 2024, has used her platform to champion social causes and showcase Nagaland’s cultural heritage.
