Break-in attempt at ECHS polyclinic in Kohima

With the probable motive of burglary, a break-in was reportedly attempted at the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic, Kohima on the intervening night of March 10 and 11, 2025.

According to PRO defence, the medical facility for the ex-servicemen was located opposite the Heritage Hotel on the Raj Bhavan Road, Officers Hill Kohima. On March 11, 2025 morning, PRO said the clinic was opened at its scheduled time, but it was discovered that the rear window of the dental section had been forcibly broken.

Further, PRO said two sets of footprints were observed on the dental stool and the dental chair, suggesting more than one individual had forcibly entered the premises with malicious intent. PRO informed that FIR had been registered with the South Police Station and investigation was underway.

PRO said ECHS polyclinic plays a crucial role in providing frontline medical care to the veterans of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Assam Rifles of Kohima and adjoining areas.

PRO said that such an act of robbery or vandalism at such a critical healthcare facility posed a severe risk of disrupting essential healthcare services for those who have selflessly served the nation.
