Training on Scientific Kiwi Orchard Management held at Phek

The Sustainable Development Research Centre (SDRC), Chümoukedima, and North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Society, Shillong (NERCORMS) organized a training on “Scientific Kiwi Orchard Management cum Distribution of Toolkits” on May 23 at T. Rihuba, Thipüzu Village, Phek.
In a press release by SDRC, Director, Dr Mechuselie Kehie noted that the initiative is part of the project titled “Establishment of Kiwi Orchard with Elite Planting Materials in the North East India” funded by North Eastern Council (NEC), M/DoNER, Govt. of India.
A technical presentation was delivered by KVK, Phek, Nagaland, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), Manjunath KS, shared insights into best practices in Kiwi orchard management. He delved into scientific kiwi cultivation, including variety selection, planting techniques, propagation methods, training and pruning systems, and harvesting among others.
The program was led by Rovikhoto Mor, invocation by TBSC associate pastor, Rihuba, Mhasheveyi Veyie. Dr. Kehie, facilitated the distribution of 28 secateurs, 14 sprayers and 14 liters of bio pesticides to the farmers. Altogether 64 participants attended the programme.
