27th convocation of Karunya Deemed University held

The 27th Convocation of Karunya Deemed University was held on Wednesday at 2 Pm at the prestigious Dr. DGS Dhinakaran Centre in university campus. Dr. Paul Dhinakaran, the Chancellor of Karunya University, presided over the event and conferred degrees upon 2014 graduating students.
In his address, Dr. Paul Dhinakaran emphasized the remarkable work carried out by Karunya students in finding solutions to key human problems such as water scarcity, food security, sanitation, and energy challenges.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, the convocation featured Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, as the special guest speaker. Dr. Behari delivered an inspiring convocation address, emphasizing the importance of graduates actively contributing to society. He encouraged them to make decisions with confidence and to work together across various departments to foster joint research endeavors.
Notably, the ceremony included the presentation of honorary degrees to Prof. Israel Cohen from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel. Prof. Cohen’s exceptional contributions to his field earned him this prestigious recognition from Karunya University.
Furthermore, the Chancellor’s Awards were bestowed upon several deserving individuals for their outstanding achievements. The awardees included A. Derek Gladio, who received the Chancellor’s Award for B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture; Oriana Gabriella Manners, recognized for her excellence in B.Tech. (Biomedical Engineering); Steffi Joseph Perumpully, honored for her exceptional performance in M.Tech (Environment and Water Resource Engineering); and Samuel Philip Minas R., commended for his dedication in M.Sc. Applied Criminology.
The convocation witnessed a touching gesture from the graduating students, as their first act after receiving their degrees. They contributed assistive devices, wheelchairs, and other essentials to support individuals with disabilities, showcasing their commitment to making a positive impact on society.
