The second edition of Hornbill Naga Silat Championship was held at Livingstone Foundation International School, here on Saturday with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Chümoukedima, KM Munesh Paya, as special guest.
The championship was organised by Nagaland Pencak Silat Association in collaboration with state of tourism department.
Speaking at the programme, Paya spoke stressed on two important lessons learnt through sports: how a single wrong move can could land a person in bad consequences and how sports teach one to come back stronger and with more energy even if one misses the target.
DCP said that one should not give up in life, adding that one could fail but should not give up and be determined to come back with double energy.
She said that champions were those who possessed determination, hardworking attitude, willing to sacrifice etc.
Paya also reminded the participants and students not to give up or neglect their education and studies. “Educated person is an enlightened person. Sports person is a fit person. We need to have both,” Paya stated.
