2nd open Nagaland ping pong c’ship begins

The second open Nagaland ping pong championship commenced at K Kire indoor stadium, NAP training centre, Chümoukedima on Monday. The two-day event is being organized by North East India Academy of Performing Arts (NIAPA).
A total of 43 participants are taking part in the companionship. Participants include top players from Assam, Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal apart from top players of Nagaland.
The opening ceremony was graced by advisor sericulture, excise and minority affairs, Zhaleo Rio as guest of honour and Angami Public Organization (APO) president and village council chairman Chümoukedima, Razouvotuo Chatsu as special guest.
NIAPA managing director Akuonuo Khezhie Yhome told Nagaland Post that open Nagaland ping pong championship is an annual event organized by NIAPA. The first edition was held in Kohima. He said that event was being organised to promote sporting culture in the state. She informed that top players from the neighbouring states have confirmed their participation in this year’s edition.
Yhome said that it was one of the biggest TT tournaments in the North East region.
The current Junior India Rank-8 Jeho Himnakulhpuingheta, of Mizoram, who just won the Men’s Champion in the 16 Memorijal Mirko Abramovic Championship, Croatia and won gold in the Men’s Team in the recently concluded Croatian league reached India on November 23 to participate in the NIAPA tournament.
Kshetrimayum Segal Singh of Manipur, currently Rank 18 of India under 17 in the 2021 ranking, is also participating in the tournament, she informed. The championship would commence on November 29, 2022.
