333 ILP defaulters detected in Kohima

Following a day-long Inner Line Permit (ILP) verification drive carried in and around Kohima town on November 12, a joint team of Kohima district administration and police detected 333 ILP defaulters and a total of Rs. 77,490 was collected as penalty.
According to DIPR report, three teams consisting of Kohima district administration and police carried out the verification drive during which various cases like ILP expiry, invalid pass etc. were detected and accordingly penalty were imposed as per section (2), (3) and (4) of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR), 1873.
It was informed that the Special Task Force constituted for ILP verification would be conducting periodic checking for detection of illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters.
The verification drive was carried out in pursuance to the direction received from the Home department (Political Branch) vide letter dated September 30, 2022 and as per the direction issued by DC Kohima vide notification dated October 28, 2022.
