48th convocation service at EBC

Eastern Bible College (EBC) held its 48th graduation service at the Buntain Chapel in Bank Colony, here on Saturday on the theme, “Make Disciples”.
Founder president of National Christian Council (NCC), Rev. Dr. Sam Paul graced the occasion as the keynote speaker while president of Northeast NCC, Rev. Nandu Gurung was the guest of honour.
In his keynote message, Rev. Dr. Sam Paul dwelled on 2 Timothy 2:15—Study to show yourself approved to God, where he encouraged graduating students to practice a disciplined Bible study; to deeply contemplate on the Bible day and night; be fervent in prayer and have an open mind to the current happenings of the world.
Valedictorian Jonah Swu narrated his journey of five years as a student in the college.
He acknowledged the faculty for equipping students with the knowledge and skills required for the ministry and his mother for her fervent prayers.
Jonah also bagged the “Graduate of the year” and “Academic Excellence’ award”.
Lat Aung and Ashelo T Sangtam were awarded the “Social Life” award while Shojila T Yimchunger and Lat Aung bagged the “Christian Ministry” award.
Other highlights of the programme included invocation by Rev. Dr. L Hevuto Awomi, scripture reading by lecturers Samuel Swu and Shinglong, greetings to graduates by lecturer Thujulo Demo, offertory prayer by pastor Jeyalo Rengma, choral presentation by lecturer Jeviholi Swu, conferring of degrees by principal and faculty, prayer for graduates, announcement by lecturer David Khobung and benediction by Rev. Dr Robert Singh.
Earlier, the programme was led by pastor Lumstuo Ezung while EBC principal, Rev. Dr. TN Lotha Jr. delivered the welcome speech and felicitated the keynote speaker and guest of honour.
Altogether, 41 students, both residential and distance learning were conferred with the Masters of Divinity, Bachelor of Theology, Bachelor in Christian Ministry and Master of Christian Ministry degrees.
