The 8th Frolic Cup began at Medziphema local ground on Monday with executive member All India Football Federation (AIFF) and president Nagaland Football Federation, K. Neibu Sekhose as the special guest.
In the opening match, Medziphema Village Youth Organization defeated the Starlit FC Moava 1- 0. The goal came in the early hour of the game from the boot of Thejasetuo at 10 minutes into the game.
In the afternoon match, Winfield Club thrashed their opponent Tenyiphe-1 Youth Org 4-1 with dominant play and fine finishing. The goal scorer for Winfield are, Lenny, Ayu and Purakum (2 goals) and the solitary goal came for the Tenyiphe came from the boot of Gangchui Pangmei.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the special guest congratulated the Frolic Club for achieving a mile stone of 25 years of yeoman service and to strive for further excellence. Encouraging the players, he cited the example of Dr. Talimeren Ao who had no proper ground, ball or football boot, yet achieved greatness due to his dedication and hard work. He stated that today’s generation have better privilege with the current youth resources department developing football ground and opening opportunity, adding that it is up to the individual player to decide which path to choose.
