Anglers Association of Nagaland (AAN) has decided to observe World Fish Migration day throughout the state in coordination with all its district chapters.
This was decided at the meeting of the association held at Naithu Resort on May 7.
The house has also decided to form mobile team by inviting scientists on exploration of the river bodies for DNA sample collections and for proper study and identification of non-classified species.
At the meeting, AAN president, Watinuksung Jamir spoke on the river system in the state and stressed on the need to conserve and protect the river ecosystem. He also called upon the members to be a responsible citizen by keeping in the mind the motto, “Where passion meets conservation”.
Vice-chief patrons, AAN, Kechangulie Rio (Chabuo) and Isaac Zhimomi also attended the meeting and exhorted the gathering.
Kechangulie expressed his happiness to be part of the association and encouraged the members on conservations of river bodies to promote sustainable fishing.
Isaac Zhimomi also the founder president expressed delighted on the progress and growth of the association over the past years, with more focus on preservation and conservation and heading towards river angling.
Ricky Ozukum on behalf of the outgoing office bearers congratulated the new team and urged them to work with dedication and selflessly for the growth of the association. Derek D’ Souza, technical advisor also spoke at the meeting. Earlier, the meeting chaired by AAN general secretary, Mhonbemo Ngullie began with an invocation by executive member, Akai Awomi.
