ABAM sesquicentennial celebration begins today

Impur, the mission headquarters of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), is all set to celebrate 150 years of Christianity in the Naga Hills on the theme “To God be the glory” from November 1 onwards, with thousands of delegates from different parts of Nagaland and abroad.
In a press release, ABAM SQC media and publicity team stated that the Ao churches and Ao community were looking forward to the celebration with gratitude to God and in a spirit of jubilance.
The speaker for the inaugural session will be regional director, Serving in Mission, East Asia, Rev. Watson Rajaratnam, former executive secretary, ABAM, Rev. Dr. L. Kari Longchar will deliver an exhortation, while Central Baptist Church Sivasagar, pastor Biren Gowalla and Rev. Dr. W. Along Jamir will bring greetings.
The inaugural session will also feature Baptist Church Mizoram Choir and the release of jubilee souvenir by ABTM former secretary, L. Bendangla Jamir.
The three-day sesquicentennial (SQC) celebration will be marked by traditional and modern homecoming celebrations, including—Phom Baptist Christian Association, Ao Naga Choir Delhi, Nungshitula Pongener and Merenyangla Pongener, Lotha Baptist Churches Association, Akangmongba, Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu, ABAM Choir, United Sangtam Baptist Lithroti Ashimukkhong, Samaro, Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu, Nito Mount; ABAM Youth Ministry, Nocte Baptist Churches Association , Meyitemsu Pongen and Aoyimti Baptist Arogo.
The three-day SQC celebration will be telecasted live through the ABAM YouTube channel.
Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang SQC planning committee has requested all the church members and friends to prayerfully attend and participate in the celebration of God’s love, physically and virtually.

BJP Mokokchung to cease normal activities
In view of ABAM esquicentennial celebration, office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mokokchung district will cease all normal activities for three days (November 1-3), to facilitate “karyakartas” to attend the sesquicentennial celebration at Impur.
In a press release, BJP Mokokchung president Imolemba Jamir and general secretary T. Temsu Imchen stated that apart from emergency works or pertinent directives from BJP Nagaland state office (Kohima) or BJP central office New Delhi, the office will cease normal activities on the said dates.
BJP Mokokchung district has also encouraged all “karykartas” to observe the coming three days with prayer and thanksgiving. It also encouraged all to attend the programmes at Impur or watch live to receive God’s blessings. Further, BJP Mokokchung district has conveyed best wishes to the people in Mokokchung district in particular and Nagas in general a blessed sesquicentenary celebration.
