The three-day 23rd convention of Angami Catholic Women Association (ACWA) culminated with the holy mass on Sunday at Zhadima village ground, hosted by Sts Peter and Paul Church Zhadima.
The fifth session of the convention began at 7 in the morning with Rev Sr Tekuoneino Rita Miasalhou as the speaker.
Sharing from the passage Ruth 1:16, Sr Rita said although Ruth was originally from a non-believing community, her devotion to the God of Israel after coming to Naomi’s family was exemplary which should be emulated by all.
She urged the mothers at the service to teach their children to have a resounding faith which would not be shaken in the face of adversity.
The session was chaired by Thinuoheü Teresa (NACWA) while Lono Teresa (CACWA) offered the opening prayer.
Scripture was read by Khuvohole Violet (KTACWA) and Vilvinu Therese (SACWA) pronounced the closing prayer.
During the Sunday holy mass, main celebrant of the convention, vicar general, Kohima Diocese, Very Rev Fr Neisalhou Carolus Kuotsu shared on how believers were blessed for doing good and helping others in need. He shared on how the father of Indian nation, Mahatma Gandhi was greatly impressed by teachings of Jesus in The Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:1-12.
Fr Carolus said even though Gandhi was a non-Christian, he believed that if a person could diligently follow all 8 Beatitudes to the letter they could lead an unblemished life.
The mass was chaired by president, ACWA, Kikrusonuo Clara while opening prayer was scripture was read by Megosieü Josephine (NACWA) and Neiseü Nirmala (NACWA).
Believers prayer was initiated by general secretary, ACWA, Asatuoü Christina. Vote of thanks were proposed by president, Catholic union Zhadima, Neipu-o Thomas and treasurer, ACWA, Rokosüno Regina. Handing over of ACWA constitution to the new team was done during the service.
Choirs for the two services were Phesama CWA and KTACWA respectively.
Sunday service saw the largest congregation during the convention with over 1800 people in attendance.
The new ACWA team will be headed by Visazhünuo Carmila as the president and Nokhule Josephine as the general secretary.
