Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has appealed to the Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) department for urgent deployment of medical specialist and surgeon at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital. In a letter to principal director H&FW, AKM president Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary Satemmongba said that the public of the district were enduring immense suffering due to absence of a surgeon and medical specialist.
As a district hospital plays vital role in providing accessible healthcare service to the local population, AKM, however, said that the transfer of medical surgeon and specialist since October 2022 without replacement has left the hospital severely understaffed, resulting in significant obstacles for patients seeking medical attention.
AKM said this has not only resulted in hindering IMDH’s ability to provide comprehensive care, but also patients, particularly those requiring specialized treatment/surgeries were compelled to seek medical assistance elsewhere. AKM, therefore, sought immediate action to address the issue by deploying a medical surgeon and specialist, adding that this would significantly alleviate the suffering faced by the local community and enable timely and efficient medical intervention.
