Amid turmoil, Mnp gets new chief secy

Amid the unrest, Manipur government on Sunday appointed its new chief secretary.
Vineet Joshi, a 1992 Manipur cadre IAS officer who recently returned from Central deputation was appointed as the new chief secretary.
He will replace Dr Rajesh Kumar, whose term was previously extended for a year.
“On return from Central deputation, the Governor of Manipur is pleased to appoint Dr Vineet Joshi, IAS (RR 1992) as chief secretary (finance, IT, cabinet and planning), government of Manipur and chief vigilance commissioner, Manipur and principal resident commissioner, Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi in addition, with immediate effect and until further orders,” the order appointing Joshi as chief secretary stated.
Before going on central deputation, Vineet Joshi served as the principal secretary to chief minister N Biren Singh.
Joshi’s has superseded three other IAS officers of Manipur cadres – MH Khan (1988 cadre), Moses Challai (1990 cadre) and P Vaiphei (1991 cadre), a source said.
Joshi’s appointment as chief secretary came after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet of the government of India approved repatriation of Vineet Joshi to his parent cadre on the request of the Manipur government.
