Responding to the nationwide protest call given by the All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organization (AIFUCTO), the All Nagaland Government College Teachers Association (ANGCTA) on Tuesday held “Black Badge protest” at Dimapur, Zunheboto, Phek and Pfutsero government colleges, Sao Chang College Tuensang, Kohima Science College, Mount Tiyi College Wokha, Mokokchung College of Teacher Education, Fazl Ali College and SCTE Kohima.
AIFUCTO had informed that wearing of black badge was a symbolic expression of deep-seated resentment against the “hasty, arbitrary and unilateral” implications of many measures, which were “detrimental” to the inclusive nature of higher education of the country.
It said that black badge was also intended to demand before the Government to restore the old pension scheme, filling of vacancies, regularisation of services of ad hoc, part time and temporary teachers, AIFUCTO added.
“In the name of implementation of a retrograde, undemocratic and exclusionary NEP 2020, UGC at the behest of the Union Education Ministry, has made public many negative regulations such as blending learning system, four years undergraduate programme, multiple entry and exit, common universities entrance test and recently brought out the draft regulations on entry of foreign universities,” AIFUCTO stated.
In a press release, ANGCTA president informed that some of the AIFUCTO demands include withdrawal of NEP 2020, restoration of old pension scheme, filling of all the vacancies in teaching and non-teaching and regularization of services of ad hoc and contract teachers across the country.
