AR conducts various activities

Apart from maintaining law and order situation, Assam Rifles under its civic action programme extended a helping hand to the local people by way of organizing various welfare activities and donated various essential items.


Wakching, Mon: The battalion organised “A day with company commander” at Wakching village, Mon. 30 students along with a teacher and four civil dignitaries spent their day with the company commander. During the day, career guidance session was conducted where the students were motivated to join armed forces. A lecture on how to become an entrepreneur and business ideas was also conducted by businessman John Paul, Siaying Tea Gardens.


Naginimora, Mon: Assam Rifles conducted tree plantation drive on August 25, at Naginimora, Mon, under the theme “Green drive tree plantation” with an aim to create awareness on benefits of tree plantation to save environment and to negate global warming. A total of 1350 saplings of mixed varieties to including neem, shisham, Nahor which primarily forms major portion of subtropical rain forest were planted.


Kiphire: The battalion conducted a felicitation ceremony for seven candidates of Kiphire district who qualified in the recently concluded Staff Selection Commision (General Duty) Recruitment Rally 2023 on August 25.
The aim of the event was to felicitate the seven volunteers who proved their mettle in clearing all the recruitment tests. A total of 20 esteemed guests attended the event.


Kohima: Assam Rifles ex-servicemen, Kohima under the aegis of IGAR (N) celebrated its golden jubilee with Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) as chief guest on August 24 at Kenguruse Cinema Hall at Kohima Garrison.
With an intending to bring together and facilitate those ex-servicemen on its 50th jubilee, around 200 attendees including officers from IGAR (N), ex servicemen, veer naris, widows and dependents including invitees from media fraternity attended the programme. Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera felicitated Veer Naris and interacted with the ex-servicemen.


Ziphu Phek: Phek battalion organised activities for school children at Ziphu Village as part of “A Day with Company Commander” on August 27.
Altogether 60 Students along with eight teachers from Government Middle School, Ziphu along with youth volleyball team comprising of 20 members from Ziphu and Mokie village participated in the day event.
Ziphu Company Commander interacted with the youths and students motivating them to hone their abilities and talents, and encouraged them to pursue a career in the Indian armed forces. Later, a motivational documentary – “Assam Rifles – Through the Ages” was also screened to showcase history and contributions of Assam Rifles.
