AR hold security meeting with GBs; organise weapon display

Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles held meeting with GBs and chairman of Tobu area in view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations and upcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections on January 9.
A press release by PRO of Assam Rifles stated that at the meeting, GBs and chairmen assured to sustain peace in the region and to work in full coordination with Assam Rifles for maintaining peace and development in the area.
Mokokchung Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised Weapon and Pipe Band Display for NCC candidates at Fazl Ali College Campus, Mokokchung district on January 10.
The candidates undergoing Combined Annual Training Camp – 109 (CATC) conducted by 25 Nagaland NCC Battalion from January 5 to 12 took part in the activities.
The aim of the programme was to increase awareness about the weapons and to motivate young minds to join the folds of the Indian Armed Forces.
The weapon display show was held under the theme “know your defense forces” in which candidates cleared their doubts and fear about the weapons used by the Security Forces.
The cadets also enjoyed the patriotic tunes played by the pipe band team of the Mokokchung Battalion.
Meanwhile, Phek battalion flagged off the mountaineering expedition to Mt Saramati, the highest peak at Meluri town, Phek district on January 10.
The expedition was flagged off by Commandant 38 Assam Rifles Col Hem Chandra Singh at Meluri town.
The expedition team comprises of three officers and 28 soldiers, two riflewomen.
The expedition will start from Meluri and move towards Base Camp via Ziphu – Mimi – Pungro. Mt Saramati would be scaled on January 15.
