Armed miscreants suspected to be cadres of an underground outfit have torched yet an excavator engaged in road development works in Manipur’s Senapati district.
Reports said that the excavator parked by the road side at Liyai village under Tungjoy police station of Senapati district was set afire last night.
Miscreants armed with sophisticated guns set afire the excavator after pouring fuel into it. Most parts of the excavator were damaged by the fire, local reports said.
This is the second time in less than a week that suspected cadres of an armed outfit torched an excavator used for road development works in the state.
On the night of November 7 , armed miscreants torched an excavator belonging to the NHIDCL between Bijang village and Thanglongbung village along National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam section under New Keithelmanbi police station of Kangpokpi district.
Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO) Moltam Block who suspected cadres of NSCN (IM) for burning the excavator had strongly demanded booking of the perpetrators.
The body had even imposed an indefinite blockade along the highway to press the state police to book the perpetrators on November 9.
The blockade was, however, called off after a talk with top officials of the state police department on the first day of the commencement of the blockade.
