Battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR-North) organised blood donation camps, medical camp, cleanliness drives and other activities across Nagaland.
Kohima Bn: Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles organised a mass yoga demo and pipe band display for schools of Kohima district at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on June 20.
At the programme, an instructor from The Art of Living conducted the yoga session and briefed on the upcoming International Day of Yoga. The school children were made aware about various yoga postures and their health benefits.
The programme was followed by a display from the pipe band of Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles where. Teachers from each school and winners of “Yoga & Me Photography Contest” organised by Kohima battalion were also felicitated.
The event was participated by 426 students and 62 teachers/staff from 46 schools. Earlier, the battalion also conducted a quiz competition for students on June 16 at Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima. In continuation of Yoga Day celebrations, Assam Rifles also educated the students on positive effects of yoga.
Kiphire Bn: Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a quiz contest on June 16 to celebrate International Yoga Day at COB Mimi Village, Kiphire. In a separate event, the battalion also organised interaction cum security coordination meeting and a medical camp on June 17 at Khongjiri Village, Kiphire.
Ghaspani Bn: Ghaspani battalion of Assam Rifles organised a mega blood donation camp on June 14 at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) Hospital, Dimapur. According to AR, a total of 75 volunteers from the unit participated in the blood donation drive.
In a separate event, the battalion also organised a mega cleanliness drives on June 17 at Medziphema town and Kukidolong Chümoukedima district, Nihokhu Village (Niuland district) and Zubza and T-khel model village Kohima district. Assam Rifles the cleanliness drives under the theme “Plastic Free Surroundings” were conducted to promote “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” and to spread awareness amongst the locals on the importance of hygiene and sanitation and the need to keep surroundings plastic free for a greener environment.
Jalukie Bn: Jalukie battalion of Assam Rifles organised a blood donation awareness lecture on June 14 at Baptist High School Tening, Tening Town, Peren. In a separate event, the Jalukie battalion conducted security meet on June 14 at Tening village, Peren with an aim to discuss issues related to security of the area and sharing of information for any untoward incidents, coordination and convergence on the issues of mutual interest between security forces and public.
Tuensang Bn: Tuensang battalion of Assam Rifles organised a medical camp on June 14 at Wangti Village, Mon wherein a total of 78 people were treated and provided with medicines.
In a separate event, the battalion conducted a brass and pipe band display on June 17 at Government Higher Secondary School, Tuensang wherein 261 children and 16 teachers witnessed the display.
