Assam Rifles engage in welfare activities

Assam Rifles battalions under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) have been continuously engaged in conducting various welfare activities for the benefit of the local populace acorss the state.
Tuensang battalion coordinated “Wecare campaign” at Yangkhao village, Mon district on November 20.
The campaign was aimed to assist the widows and orphans at the village for construction of their houses. The battalion distributed hardware items for the construction and the campaign was well coordinated in presence of Headmaster of the village School and residents of village.
At Peren’s Namdi village, the Assam Rifles organized a medical camp on November 21.
At the camp, 72 villagers including 18 children availed the services.
The villagers were also briefed about the various health and hygiene methods to be implemented during the prevailing weather conditions and necessary medicines were provided.
In another programme, Jalukie battalion organised cleanliness drive in Nzau village, Peren and Hekheshe village of Chumukedima district on November 21.
At the drive, the AR personnel along with villagers and youths planted saplings of various fruit bearing and other trees, aiming towards preservation of environment and nurture the ecosystem.
Villagers, youths and children were also briefed about the importance of conservation of nature, wildlife protection & ecological balance.
Around 53 saplings were planted across the village with the help of 45 villagers.
