Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Peren conducted various activities for the farmers within the district.
Ahthibung: With an objective to bridge the gap between technical experts and farmers and to imbibe the latter with appropriate relevant information, a “farmer-Scientist interaction” was conducted by ATMA Peren, Ahthibung block on April 28 at Ahthibung Town Hall, Ahthibung, Peren.
During the first technical session, a discussion on the topic, “important diseases of livestock management” was delivered by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren CTO (Animal Science), Dr. L Babita Devi while ACTO (PBG) KVK Peren, ICAR Nagaland Centre, Dr. Patu K Zeliang spoke on “seasonal vegetable cultivation for income generation”.
At the second session, participating farmers and the resource persons interacted on various topics, and the resource persons also sensitised the farmers on Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and its importance in solving marketing related issue. Altogether, 40 farmers attended the programme and participated in the interaction session.
Songlhuh: A team of ATMA Peren, Ahthibung block along with farmers visited jhum field at Songlhuh Village, Ahthibung on April 29 as part of the “field day on summer crops”.
The team led by Block Technology Manager (BTM), Lhaihoichong Singson discussed various crops commonly grown in jhum fields, while topics such as pest and disease management, nutrient requirements, plant water relations etc. of summer crops were discussed by Assistant Technology Manager (ATM), Lireni Lotha. Farmer were also advised on impact of jhum practices and remedy suggestions made on the negative impacts of jhum farming
Based on interest of farmers present, ATM, Keneingunuo, taught farmers on scientific method, packages and practices of banana cultivation. Altogether 15 farmers attended the field day.
