Awareness on emerging diseases in livestock

An awareness programme on “emerging diseases of pigs and poultry and biosecurity measures to be adopted for control and prevention” was jointly organised by the department of veterinary medicine and department of veterinary pathology, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (CVS&AH) Jalukie, Peren, Nagaland on November 18 for the for the livestock farmers of Jalukie.
At the programme, CVS&AH Jalukie, dean Dr. I. Shakuntala spoke on the importance of animal rearing and adopting biosecurity measures for diseases control and prevention.
She said the livestock farmers are well versed with the managemental aspects and that they only need guidance from experts of college from time to time.
The coordinator of the programme, head of department of veterinary medicine, professor Dr. Gunjan Das reiterated about the importance of conducting such awareness programme to sensitise the livestock farmers.
Professor and head of department of veterinary clinical complex, Dr. M.G. Jayathangaraj and head of department of veterinary microbiology, professor Dr. Ravikumar also interacted with the farmers.
Resource persons CVS&AH Jalukie, department of veterinary medicine assistant professor, Dr. Neithono Kuotsu and department of veterinary pathology assistant professor, Dr. Amrit Gogoi also delivered lectures on the topic and interacted with the farmers. A total of 51 farmers participated in the awareness programme.
