DIMAPUR: Wokha district administration and DLCW-MSK under Beti Bachao Beti Phadao (BBBP) in collaboration with Sakhi–OSC, IQAC and District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) conducted an awareness programme on “Mental Health and Sexual Harassment of women at workplace” at Mount Tiyi College, Wokha on April 1.
In a press release, chief medical officer (CMO) office Wokha informed that during the programme, resource person, DMHP clinical psychologist, Amenla Longkumer emphasized on understanding the importance of mental hygiene and using emotional intelligence to improve mental health.
She stressed on detecting early signs of mental health issues and various ways to manage it.
Amenla concluded her session by encouraging the students to practice mindfulness and getting professional help if required.
Meanwhile, administrator, Sakhi One Stop Centre, Renthunglo Kikon and Sakhi-OSC, Thungbeni Kikon conducted sessions on sexual harassment faced by women at workplace and the importance of setting up sexual harassment committee in offices and educational institutions. They informed the students on types of sexual harassment and encouraged them to come forward if faced with such issues.
The resource persons stressed on the importance of health discussions on such topics at various platforms to sensitise the people.
