Birth of the Lord Jesus

Jesus Christ was born nearly 2000 years ago in Israel which was then Palestine. His birth was prophesied 600 years before his birth by Prophet Isaiah. So it was not sudden birth of Jesus on this earth but ordained by God the Almighty. Secondly, his birth has divided the history of the world into two parts: BC and AD. Therefore he is a historical person which is undeniable. Now what the Holy Bible says about Jesus’ birth?
According to the gospel of Mathew 1:21, 23,”And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet (Isaiah), saying Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanual, which being interpreted is, God with us”. Hence Jesus birth was unique.
During his ministry on earth he gave sight to the blind, leg to the lame, healed the sick, cleansed the lepers, caste out demons, and gave life to the dead. He spent time with the ordinary people of the society who were neglected and downtrodden teaching them the Kingdom of God. He fed 5000 people with five loaves and two fishes.
He stopped the storm and walked on the water. All these miracles indicate that he was God in human form.
He was God incarnate. Therefore his name called Emmanual which means God with us. God in human form dwelt among humans and died for the sins of humankind. This speaks of God’s unfathomable LOVE for humanity.
JESUS means Saviour. Jesus is the Saviour of the world. What does it mean to be a Saviour and what did he save people from. The one and only purpose of his birth was to save people from their sins, sinful nature and lead them to God and godly life. Jesus claimed that he is the Way, the Truth and Life: no man cometh to the Father (God), but by me (John 14:6).
In order to fulfil God’s plan for mankind he died on the cross for the sins of the world. He had authority to forgive sins of men and women on earth. God’s immense love for the people of all race, culture and nationality was manifested when Jesus died on the Cross of Calvary. He not only died for human race but rose on the third day over coming death and Satan.
His resurrection proves that he is a living Saviour and living today and for ever. God lived among people, so his name is called Emmanuel.
He is not living among us in the flesh today but he is very much alive and living among us in the spirit.
The Bible says, “ Neither is there Salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts.4:12).
Let the Christmas 2023 bring hope, peace, brotherly love and prosperity to all on earth.
