The two-day, 16th Bishu (post- harvest festival of Kachari) Mini Hornbill Festival of the Kachari community concluded at Kachari Community Playground, Darogajan-Kushiabill with cultural presentation by various troupes.
The festival was organised by Dimasa Public Organisation Nagaland (DPON) in collaboration with department of Tourism, Nagaland.
Various stalls were displaying cultural items and ethnic food were also set up.
Dimasa Hasao Autonomous Council executive member Biswajit Daulagupu graced the event. In his speech, he stressed on the importance of unity amongst each other and with other communities. He appealed to the community to not sell their private lands instead learn to protect for the community as well as for the upcoming generation.
Biswajit further said that community should not be disheartened by being a minority community, but be proud of their rich culture.
Short speech was also delivered by Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland (KTCN) president Ramesh Hasnu, DHAC executive member Nojit Kemprai and DHAC member of autonomous council Manjit Naiding.
At the programme Bishnu prayer was offered by GB Dhansiripar village Debolal Jigdung, and welcome address by Dimasa public organisation, Nagaland president Ditush Naben.
Bishnu greetings was delivered by Darogajan Village Council chairman PM Thaosen.
Cultural presentations were showcased by Darogajan cultural troupe, Amaluma cultural troupe, Doyapur cultural troupe and Karbi cultural troupe. It was followed by traditional games.
