Office of the BJP 38 Wokha constituency has condemned the February 21 incident wherein the party alleged of “brazen buying of ballot votes” led by agents of a rival candidate during the casting of postal ballots at GHSS Wokha.
In a press note, the chief agent of 38 Wokha A/C BJP candidate claimed that the agents were caught red handed with huge amount of cash and other documents in their possession.
BJP said that such action was a blatant disregard to the Model Code of Conduct and a serious offence. While assuring that it would take all necessary measures to ensure free and fair election in the constituency, 38 BJP Wokha appreciated Wokha police for their vigilant and swift action in nabbing the accused persons. The party is also lauded BJP karyakartas for their role in exposing the modus operandi of the agents.
BJP further appealed to the district administration to take strict action against the accused persons as per law so as to discourage such nefarious activities in future.
The party also called upon all right thinking citizens of 38 Wokha AC to condemn the illegal activities and not to be swayed by monetary enticements in true Christian spirit. BJP 38 Wokha, while reiterating to stand for free and fair elections, also appealed to supporters of both the parties to abstain from violence and unitedly work for peaceful elections.
