BJP firm on 40:20 seat sharing with NDPP, says Kohli

National Spokesperson and BJP party in charge of Nagaland Nalin Kohli on Saturday reiterated the 40-20 seat sharing alliance with its coalition partner NDPP will continue in the 2023 Nagaland Assembly Elections.
Kohli said that both parties are looking forward to fight the elections together with an understanding of a “coalition” and this arrangement was decided by the central leadership.
Speaking exclusively to Nagaland Post on the sidelines of a BJP party meeting here at Suruhuto Town on Saturday, the BJP spokesperson said that he was satisfied with the preparations at the grassroot level and was working “hard” in preparation for the next election.
Asked on the prospects of the party in Nagaland ahead of the upcoming polls, Kohli remarked that every political party likes to increase its votes share and seats by working hard and that the BJP is looking forward to increase its tally from the last elections.
Earlier, addressing party workers under 33 A/C Suruhuto Mandal at Public Ground, Suruhuto, the BJP spokesperson said that the State is at an important time when elections are due in another one hundred days. Kohli said that Prime Minister Modi’s Government has only one agenda of development and added that in the last eight years of BJP Government at the Centre, prime minister Modi has put special focus on Northeast.
“That is why in Northeast, National Highways are increasing, Railways are increasing, Tourism is increasing, factories and jobs are coming also,” Kohli asserted.
He said the focus is Act East and thereby making the Northeast an important hub of economic activity. Towards this, many projects have either come to Nagaland or are already in advanced stages of development, Kohli added.
The BJP party in charge of Ngaland also said that the Northeast is seeing the BJP come back to power as the governments are run with the BJP at the Centre and with its coalition partners in the States. He termed such Governments as “double-engine” bringing more development, faster development and better development.
Kohli lauded the BJP karyakartas in 33 Suruhuto/Asuto A/C for voting for development and making Khehovi Yeputhomi to be their representative in the last elections and further appealed to the electorate to continue to work together to ensure that development continues without a break.
Advisor Tourism and Art & Culture, Khehovi Yeputhomi acknowledged the BJP central leadership for including Suruhuto in the tour itinerary of the BJP National spokesperson. Yeputhomi said that the party at the Centre was aware of the huge response from the electorates under 33 Asuto-Suruhuto A/C in the 2018 Assembly Elections and therefore sent its national spokesman to the area which perhaps has happened for the first time.
The Advisor called upon the electorates of the constituency not to be swayed by election related rumours and clamours but instead work harder to strengthen the party at all levels.
Kohli was accompanied by BJP executives from State, District and former BJP candidates. Earlier the welcome address was delivered by Vitoyi GB, Advisor 33 A/C BJP Suruhuto Mandal, Mandal report was read out by Tokhevi Aye, president, 33 A/C BJP Suruhuto Mandal and vote of thanks was delivered by Tokito Sumi, executive member Yuva.
