BJP high command to take final call on candidature for 20 seats

Staff Reporter

BJP high command would take a final call regarding candidature for 20 Assembly constituencies as per the party’s seat-sharing deal with NDPP for the upcoming Assembly election. This was disclosed by PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi to mediapersons on the sideline of inaugurating the BJP Dimapur district office at Bank Colony here on Saturday.
Jacob said that the BJP high command will earmark the 20 seats and also decide who would be given tickets.
On the other hand, some BJP sources informed that the party was likely to “review” the seat/ticket allocation , adding that it may not be based on the 2018 elections but based on winnability. There is likelihood of some BJP legislators being denied the party tickets, sources added.
Meanwhile, addressing the gathering as chief guest at the inaugural programme of Dimapur district BJP office, Jacob Zhimomi complimented party’s district office-bearers for the new office and exhorted them to work for the welfare of people.
He called for strengthening BJP in Nagaland, noting that Dimapur being the bastion of the party could assist in increasing party presence across the State. He urged all karyakatras to work together to strengthen the party so that it could form the government in future.
Zhimomi appealed to the gathering to believe in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party’s central leadership, claiming that because of Central government’s people-centric schemes and plans, the party had been voted to power for two consecutive terms.
Addressing the gathering as chief host, Power Department adviser Tovihoto Ayemi noted that BJP in Dimapur had grown from strength to strength and had also enrolled many people as members.
He also reminded the gathering about the principle of BJP, which stood for the nation. With the inauguration of the new office, he hoped that all party workers would work with more zeal, enthusiasm and dedication.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by BJP district secretary Naro Sangtam, invocation by BJP Mahila district president Avi Awomi, welcome speech by ST Morcha district president Khesheto Kiho, presidential address by district president Tokuho Suhoi Neho and special number by Ayala Jamir.
