Block level health melas to be held in Kohima

DIMAPUR: Chief medical officer (CMO) Kohima, Dr. Vezokholu Theyo has informed that block level health melas under National Health Mission (NHM) supported by the ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) would be held in Kohima district from April 18 to 22.
According to a DIPR report, the CMO informed that MoHFW was supporting block level health melas in all the states and union territories up to Rs. 1 lakh per block under NHM, where thousands of people are expected to avail quality health care services with essential medicines through different systems of medicine, free of cost. The melas would also help inform people about various health programmes carried out by the central and state governments, NGOs etc.
She also informed that for block level mela, components of health mela would include digital health ID creation, NCD screening (Diabetes, hypertension, oral cancer), issue of Ayushman Bharat Card, awareness generation and health education, Basic health care services, Teleconsultation and referral, wellness activities like yoga meditation.
The key services of the health mela includes, reproductive child health relate on maternal and child health, family planning, IEC- family welfare, reproductive transmitted illnesses, sexually transmitted, illnesses, AIDS screening and treatment, etc.
The CMO further informed that the health mela would be held in collaboration with the department of State Health Authority, department of Food safety (FSSAI), department of Youth Affairs and Sports, department of AYUSH, department of School Education, department of Information and Broadcasting, department of Women and Child Development, department of Panchayat Raj Institution, Urban Development directorate and directorate of Culture.
