Cab appeals ENPO to participate in Hornbill Fest; says Statehood demand can be discussed in NLA

The State Cabinet has once again appealed to the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) and tribal hohos of Eastern Nagaland to participate in forthcoming Hornbill Festival by allowing their cultural troupes to join and also run the morungs.
This followed a meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by chief minister Neiphiu Rio at Naga Heritage Village Kisama on Monday morning to discuss, among other things, agenda regarding participation of cultural troupes from the districts of Eastern Nagaland.
The Cabinet noted that the grievances put forth by ENPO and tribal hohos of the respective tribes with regard to participation of cultural troupes in Hornbill Festival had been duly addressed by the State government by providing necessary additional facilities. It also noted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had already given an appointment for an ENPO delegation on December 3, 2022 in New Delhi.
With regard to the demand for a separate State, the Cabinet was of the view that whenever Nagaland Legislative Assembly session was convened, legislators and members of Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU), if and when they desired to discuss, may move accordingly and the issue would be deliberated threadbare.
In view of all these facts and in the light of the appeal made by the State Cabinet, chief secretary J Alam requested allowing cultural troupes and other people of the districts of Eastern Nagaland to participate in Hornbill Festival 2022.
