Rhitsho Mero struck twice as Vanguard FC – Tseminyu outclassed Railway FC 5-0 in the 18th Captain Jintu Gogoi Vir Chakra Memorial Football Tournament 2023 at TDSA Stadium, Tinsukia, Assam on Thursday.
Vanguard FC making their debut in the national tournament have made immediate impact scoring five goals on process and will be hoping that that team will carry the same momentum in the next matches.
In the match, Vanguard FC scored three quick goals early in the first half with Captain Yhunshalo Kemp scoring and a brace by Vice Captain Rhitsho Mero, VFC gained the momentum and dominated the game.
In the second half, Sinlo Kent converted a beautiful free-kick while Hanglen Chang came from the bench to score a stunning goal to make it 5-0 at the end of the final whistle.
The team progress into the next round with this win and play against Assam Rifles Sentinels XI tomorrow in the same venue at 3:00 PM.
The ongoing tournament is an invitational tournament organized by the Indian Army and OIL in honour of Kargil Hero Captain Jintu Gogoi. A total of 24 teams from 8 states are taking part.
Ating Tingnyek Konyak making his first assignment as the coach of the team will be very proud of the results today. A comprehensive victory in the game against another state will surely be a moral booster as he continue to honk his skill in the coaching line.
