As part of the ongoing nationwide 5th Poshan Pakhwada, office of the CDPO Jakhama along with convergent departments organised “anemia camp-cum-poshan panchayat” at Pfuchima village on Thursday.
CDPO Jakhama, Zubemo Jami in his welcome address stressed on the importance of Poshan panchayat as social audit to promote uptake of poshan and to generate public awareness about nutrition.
Jami also highlighted “nutrition for all”, the 2023 poshan pakhwada theme and the declaration of the international year of millet.
Health educator, Awheno spoke on “anemia symptoms, causes and treatment for pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls”.
Also speaking on the occasion, area coordinator livelihoods, Vihoto Kin, shared the importance of millet in the nutritional profile for pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls.
District coordinator Kohima, Sohile Tep, reminded the gathering that nutrition was a physiological process by which an organism uses food to support its life, therefore failure to obtain sufficient nutrients causes malnutrition which affects health and overall development of a person.
Anemia screening and distribution of free sanitary pads provided by DC Kohima and district administration were some of the day’s highlights.
Altogether, 65 participants attended the programme.
