CEO calls for young voters’ registration

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland, V.Shashank Shekhar has encouraged the young voters from Nagaland who were studying and working in Delhi to register themselves at the ongoing E-Roll summary revision and also exercise their right to vote during election.
The CEO made this remark at an interactive meeting with various student bodies and young working professionals from Nagaland based in Delhi at Nagaland House, New Delhi on November 21.
He also highlighted the importance of young voters’ registration and participation, with special emphasis on free and fair election, C-Vigil, etc.
Shashank also apprised that the Election Commission at a recent CEO’s Conference highlighted that there were many students and young working professionals studying or working outside their respective States. Therefore, emphasised has been made by the department to connect with this section of the population and to further facilitate enrolment and participation for these voters.
In a short power point presentation, Jt. CEO, Sharon emphasized that India has the largest youth population, which makes for around 66% of the total population.
Over 50 participants from various student unions and young working professionals of Nagaland in Delhi attended the meeting.
The formal session was followed by an interactive session where the attendees shared their views and suggestions and doubt and questions were addressed and made note of by the officials present.
The meeting was chaired by Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, Sharon Longchari.
The program was organized with the assistance of the office of the Residence Commissioner, Nagaland House Delhi.
