Chief Electoral Officer, V. Shashank Shekhar, IAS, Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha, IAS, and DGP Rupin Sharma, IPS, had a review meeting with representatives from political parties and civil societies convened by DCs & DEOs of Mokokchung and Wokha on February 25.
According to DIPR report, CEO while interacting with the political party representatives asked them to report any anomalies about the Modal Code of Conduct by any Candidates/Party, so that action can be taken by the concerned authority. He mentioned that even after the polling is over if the conduct of electoral malpractices has been found against any candidate, action would be taken as per the law. Adding to this, Home Commissioner said webcasting recordings will be reviewed to ascertain anomalies carried out by any candidate. DGP, Nagaland urged the party representative to create awareness among the electorate to avert creating situation that may lead to violence. He also assured that more security personnel will be stationed in all the sensitive polling stations.
Mokokchung: CEO & State Officials while interacting with the civil society representative from Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang and AKM called for their joint effort to reach out to the community members to be sensitized inorder avoid any situation that may lead to violence.
President, Ao Senden, and Watsu Mungdang expressed grief on the poll-related violence in some areas of the district but assured that more concrete effort will be put in from their end with close coordination with the district election machinery so that further poll-related violence can be avoided, the meeting was held at DC Conference Hall.
DC & DEO maintained that necessary and adequate measures are taken to avoid any poll-related violence in the district and with proper coordination with the civil societies and political party functionaries, the polling process can be conducted in a free and fair manner.
Wokha: Chief Election Officer, Nagaland V.Shashank Shekhar (IAS), Home Commissioner Nagaland Abhijit Sinha (IAS) and Nagaland DGP, Rupin Sharma (IPS), visited Wokha district on February 25 and held a series of meeting with District Administration, Police, Political Parties and civil societies organisations of Wokha district at the Office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Wokha. Representatives of BJP, NCP, JDU, NDPP and NPF attended meeting with political parties. Meeting with Civil Society Organisations was attended by representatives of Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, and Wokha District Village Council Chairman Association. The team was also accompanied by joint secretary & OSD to CEO, Hiazu Meru , joint CEO Sharon Longchari, DC and DEO, Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS and IPS, Superintendent of Police, Wokha Aotula T. Imchen.
The CEO, Nagaland, Home commissioner, Nagaland and DGP, Nagaland reviewed the law and order in the district and the visiting officials appealed to the leaders to sensitize the public to maintain peace and not to indulge in any election related violence. All the stakeholders assured to abide by the guidelines of the Election Commission and to extend support and co-operation to the District Administration and Police for successful conduct of election
CEO, Nagaland expressed confidence in the District Administration and Law enforcing agencies for taking proactive measures to maintain the law and order in the district and exhorted to remain vigilant during the poll and post poll period. Home Commissioner, Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha IAS, informed that voter’s information slip is not allowed as identity proof, as one can vote only on producing EPIC ID or any other 12 identity cards approved by the Election Commission of India.
