Chakhesang Theological Association supports Clean Election Campaign

In a context where corruption is the order of the day, and more so during elections, change is the need of the hour! Many are skeptical about the success of Clean Election Campaign but the Chakhesang Theological Association (CTA) hails the initiative of the Church regardless of denominations in her fight against faulty electioneering system.
No initiative can be perfect but the people of Nagaland has come a long way in their fight against social evils through the initiative of the Church. The blame game in the corrupt practices during the elections has not taken our State any step forward. It’s time that, everybody takes the responsibility of being a responsible citizen! Almost two centuries ago, Leo Tolstoy wrote, “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
For most of us, this statement is already a cliché because we’ve heard of it and seen 101 times! If only hearing were enough to make impact, the world would have been positively different today!
A universal truth is that, it takes good people’s action to reduce evil deeds. Society is comprised of individuals, therefore, individual transformation leads to corporate transformation. All must act both individually and corporately; there’s no excuse for passivity! The following quotes are depiction of the truth about making positive change:
“The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it” (Albert Einstein – Germany) “The world suffers a lot not because of the violence of bad people but because of the silence of the good people” (Napoléon Bonaparte – France)
“Bad people need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good people should look on and do nothing” (John Stuart Mill – England)
“Tragedy is not the brutality of evil people, but the silence of good people” (Martin Luther King Jr. – America) “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends” (Martin Luther King Jr.- America)“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little” (Edmund Burke – Great Britain)
Aren’t we tired of being ‘good people’ by being silent! Aren’t we tired of complaining about self-created system? Aren’t we tired of pointing fingers at others? It is said, “It’s better to light a candle than to curse darkness” (Eleanor Roosevelt). Romans 13:12 says, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” Can you be a candle light? I can be one too!
We, the Chakhesang Theological Association (CTA), fully support Clean Election Campaign! Let the good triumph over evil in power of the Almighty God!
