Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO) and the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) have appealed to all responsible to include them in consultative meetings, which they said have become “very important in order to achieve consensus on issues of crucial and urgent public importance.”
In a joint statement, CPO president Vichütuolie Mere and WSH president Shikaho Zhimomi stated that over the years, the active participation of the CPO and WSH in consultative meetings have been “technically excluded by default” since the tribal apex body/hoho of the Angami tribe is APO and that of the Sumi tribe is Sumi Hoho.
They said that today, even after Chumoukedima and Niuland both become full-fledged districts, the “same technical defect of exclusion by default” had been highlighted by the joint co-ordination committee (JCC), which has convened a joint consultative meeting on March 25 at Naga Council Dimapur office to deliberate on the ULB polls issue.
They said that all major bodies including student unions have been invited with the exception of CPO and WSH. They said that CPO and WSH “actually, constitutes as the two main stakeholders” in the three districts of Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland.
As such, the two bodies said it would be in the interest of the people of Dimapur, Chumoukedima, and Niuland if the particular nomenclature of CPO and WSH is included and clearly mentioned in the list of invitees to any consultative meetings “so as to enable the active participation of the CPO and the WSH.”
