Chesezu games and sports meet underway


A five-day 57th Games & Sports meet 2023 of Chesezu Youth Association began at local ground, Chesezu under Phek district on Tuesday with Nagaland Wushu Association president and Entrepreneurs Development Agency chairman, Küdecho Khamo as the chief guest.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Khamo called on the sportspersons to give their best with effort in one sporting discipline to be a successful sportsperson.
He said that today they would be playing in the village but one day they could represent the state and country at a higher level.
Khamo observed that sports have been gaining popularity in the modern society, in that regard he asked the sportspersons to display professionalism in their career and not be seasonal sportspersons.
While urging youths not only give their best effort in sports but also to respect their elders, help the poor and weaker society and uplift the village.
Adding that under the leadership of chief minister and Nagaland Olympic Association president, Neiphiu Rio sports and sportspersons in the State was being promoted in the state. He observed that CM had given the best effort with better facilities and infrastructure.
He also cited the cash incentives given by CM to the sportspersons to medal winners in the recently concluded Northeast Olympic games.
Nagaland Wushu Association, which won 6 medals in the games, Khamo said Nagas could shine in games such as wrestling, wushu, boxing, taekwondo, karate, judo and other similar disciplines.
He disclosed his aspiration to serve and work for the welfare of the people in the constituency. In this regard, he sought the people’s blessing, support and prayers to serve the people in a larger interest.
He further expressed his hope on the leadership of CM Neiphiu Rio to continue his tenure in the next upcoming general election. Khamo assured to work under his leadership to work for the welfare of the constituency if given the chance.
He spoke about Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative which can benefit the villagers where upcoming entrepreneurs can avail loan up to Rs. 15 lakhs.
He also spoke on Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) that provide health insurance coverage for the public.
Earlier, president’s address was given by youth president Küthoveyi Nyekha, khel chairman Tayi Nyekha and oath taking by Khruzovoyi Nyekha.
On day-1, sporting activities such as 100 M, 200 M, 400 M dash were held. The closing session will be graced by Western Tenyimi Hoho president, Vekhosayi Nyekha, on December 17.
