Chümoukedima FC lifts first edition of CDFL

Chümoukedima FC emerged as the winner of the first edition of Chümoukedima District Football League (CDFL) which concluded at Chümoukedima Local Ground Saturday.
The 15-day event was organized by Chümoukedima District Football Association.
The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1.50 lakh along with trophy and certificate.
Naga United FC finished runner-up beating Piphema United FC in the last match of the tournament by 3-1. NUFC was awarded a cash prize of Rs 80,000.
Keneisede of Piphema United FC was adjudged as the highest scorer while Chümoukedima FC’s Manton was declared as the Player of the Tournament. The awards for the Best Defender and Best Goalkeeper were bagged by Naga United FC’s Katoho and Sovima FC’s Lijanthung respectively
Speaking at the closing ceremony as special guest, Nagaland Football Association (NFA) president and executive member of All India Football Federation (AIFF), Neibou Sekhose, stated that football was “people’s game” and a household name in the state. Sekhose said that football relied purely on skill and creativity rather than strength and stature making it “a more inclusive sport” than others.
NFA president congratulated the Chümoukedima District Football Association for organising the event.
