Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang, NPF president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio, Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and various organizations have conveyed their condolences to the family members of late Zaku Tsukru, senior vice president of NPF and former NSF president, who passed away on Sunday morning after a brief illness.
In a condolence message to Mrs. Kosolie Tsukru and family, chief minister T.R. Zeliang described late Zaku Tsukru as a tall leader, who remained a strong regionalist till his demise.
He had served the society in several capacities including president of Angami Public Organization and the NSF, Zeliang said. The passing away of late Zaku, who had rendered his service for the welfare of the Naga society was a great loss to the Nagas, he added. Zeliang prayed that Almighty God grant peace and solace to his near and dear ones and the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
Dr. Shürhozelie: In his condolence message, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu said late Zaku was one of his closest confidantes and had always been with him through thick and thin.
“A thorough gentleman, party men and women looked up to him, and considered him as a fatherly figure of the NPF party. Never one to lose his cool, he never failed to give a level-headed counsel during crucial party meetings”, Dr. Shurhozelie said.
He was a man, who stood steadfast on his beliefs, principles and ideologies and never hesitated to speak out the truth, NPF president said. In his demise, NPF has lost a towering personality whose contributions to the party were immense and immeasurable. Further, Dr. Shurhozelie expressed sympathy to the family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Rio: Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio and president NPF has expressed grieve over the untimely demise of Zaku Tsukrü on September 17. In a condolence message to Mrs. Kusole, Rio said he and late Zaku worked together as youth leaders in the United Democratic Front Party during the mid 70s. Even though they parted ways, Rio said both of them continued to work for the people through various platforms and different political parties.
Later, Rio said he had also the opportunity to work closely with late Zaku once again, when he contested from NPF ticket as Southern Angami II constituency in the general election in February 2003. The MP also described late Zaku as a staunch regionalist, a man of principle, simple and upright, who had worked wholeheartedly for the cause of the common man and in his death the people have lost a dear friend and a committed leader. The vacuum created by him will be difficult to fill in, Rio said.
NSF: NSF president, Kesosul Christopher Ltu while expressing grief on the demise of late Zaku, realled the contribution and dedication of the late leader towards the Naga people and as NSF president from October 1973 to October 1974.
The federation also recalled how late Zaku under his leadership revived and strengthen the NSF, during the most challenging times by overcoming all the odds.
NSF said his demise was a great loss to the people and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
ASU: Angami Students’ Union (ASU) said it was extremely pained by the sudden demise of late Zaku Tsükru, former president Angami Public Organisation and former president NSF.
ASU president, Visako Rino in a condolence note said that the service rendered by the departed leader to the Angami community in particular and the Nagas was immeasurable. The union further prayed to the Almighty to grant solace and comfort to the bereaved family members at this hour of grief and for the departed soul to rest in peace.
AYO: Angami Youth Organization (AYO) president Neinguvoto Krose in a condolence message said late Zaku Tsiikrii was a strong pillar of strength for the people and had served in various strata of his village, range, community and Naga society. AYO also acknowledged late Zaku for his steadfast visions and commitment to his people. While conveying condolences to the family members, AYO said it has lost a father and a refined leader, which will be hard to be replaced.
