Central Nagaland Women Association (CNWA) and Central Nagaland Students Association (CNSA) organised a joint felicitation programme at DBIDL Hall, on Saturday to felicitate the successful UPSC achievers, Yimkum I Ozükum (AIR 203), Imkongnükla Ao (AIR 723) and W Aotula Ozükum (AIR 874).
Addressing the programme as special guest, Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, congratulated all the three candidates for brining laurels to Central Nagaland Tribal Council (CNTC) in particular and Nagas in general.
Humtsoe said he was inspired to hear about the journeys of Yimkum, Imkong, and Aotula in their pursuit of the civil service exam.
He said in every endeavour, determination, hard work and consistency were the main factors that lead to success. “It is said that only those who run extra mile ahead of other and slogged and perspire more than others ultimately attain success in life”, he said. He also reminded the gathering to always keep God first in every aspect. Humtsoe also shared his experiences as an administration officer and how to prepare their journey as a civil servant.
Meanwhile, delivering a short message on the preparation for the Civil Service exam Yimkum I Ozükum, who secured All India Ranking 203, said his preparation for the exam was a mixed feeling. He said civil services exam not only tests the ability to study, but also the character and mentality of the person.
He said that even though he faced failure in his first and second attempts, he acknowledged the support of his friends, families and senior officials, and was lucky to have people around him to support and motivate him.
He also spoke on qualities such as having aim in life, sacrifices, obedience, hard work, value of time, and decision making, as necessary qualities to clear the exams.
He later thanked the CNWA and CNSA for organizing the felicitation programme and said such programmes were source of inspiration for all aspiring candidates.
Also, delivering a short message, Imkongnükla Ao, who secured All India Ranking 723, in her message, dwelled on the importance of giving glory and honor to God.
She added that there was no short cut for success and hard work and determination was the only key for success.
Imkong, who also got through the exams after several attempts, urged everyone to take them as examples, noting that despite repeated failures, everyone should not just sit and complaint but work harder in what they do.
Further delivering a short message, W Aotula Ozükum, who secured All India Ranking 874, shared that she was able to get through the exams on her sixth attempt and that her journey in preparing for the UPSC exam was like a marathon.
Ozükum also stressed on the importance of having a hobby in lives.
“Whatever path we choose, we should always remember our goal and run the race with strength, understanding and endurance”, she said.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by president, CNWA, K Atoli Sema, invocation was offered by former president, Watsü Mungdang, Dr Chubatola Aier, and welcome note by CNSA president, R Sunep Pongen.
Congratulatory message was delivered by CNTC president, Khondao Ngullie, while special prayer for the three successful candidates was offered by associate pastor, Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur, Lanlongo Yanthan.
A special number was presented by Kito Shohe and friend, while word of encourage delivered by principal, Zunheboto Government College, Dr K Kalito Chishi, vote of thanks by general secretary, CNSA, Anoka H Zhimo and benediction by president, Sumi Totimi Hoho.
